John wanted to be found on Search Engines. When we first started, he mentioned that he had no way of showcasing his work for people interested in his art. If people saw him on the street, plain air painting, and wanted to see his completed work, there was no easy way to get in touch with him.
Goals & Objectives
Our goal was to create a very simple website that only serves to be the background to his beautiful paintings. Since a part of his income comes from selling open edition prints, we had to change the DPI of the images, so they could not be printed out in high quality. The website is meant to be a doorway to open communication between John and art lovers.
We decided to keep the color scheme very modest to not take away from the colors and shapes of the paintings. The menu is extremely simplistic only showing off his paintings, most recent paintings and a contact address. The home page has one featured painting, which can be easily changed by John himself. We used a font of John’s choosing, which looks simple and elegant.
All the bells and whistles are removed from the paintings showcase, allowing the artwork to shine through.
The finished website looks clean and sophisticated on all devices and allows the paintings to stand out exactly like in an art gallery. The images are high quality to not lose any detail, and the layout is very uniform to not distract from the art. John Elverum can be easily found on Google, which enhances his visibility.
